Go to The ZOO for a wild time with the entire family. There's plenty to entertain all ages at the locally owned, privately funded animal preserve located 12 miles east of Gulf Breeze on Highway 98. The Zoo plays host to many special events such as weddings, group/company meetings and even children's birthday parties. Visit one of the most unique and friendly zoos in America. Come take a safari to The ZOO! A wildlife experience awaits you with over 700 animals surrounded by natural habitat landscaping and botanical gardens enhancing their homes. Plan to spend the day experiencing nature at its best and enjoy all The ZOO has to offer. At this friendly zoo, you can get a close look at bears, tigers, rhinos and zebras. Bring a camera to photograph the colorful birds. Have fun watching playful primates. See sleek otters slither through water. Be amazed at the sight of western lowland gorillas. Marvel at the strength and beauty of our white Bengal tigers. We've steadily expanded since opening in 1984, so there's plenty to see and do at The ZOO! Adults and children enjoy the petting zoo, safari train, puppet shows and even elephant rides. There is also a restaurant and gift shop. Free parking; senior, children, and group discounts. Open daily except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. View the ZOO! Catch a ride on the Safari Line train for an up-close, fun-filled excursion through 30 acres of free-roaming animals in their natural habitat. The latest additions of our preserve include rhinos, alligators and even a pigmy hippo exhibit. Keep an eye out for native wildlife that find sanctuary here on the preserve. The train tickets to the reserve are available at Nairobi Station. Our regularly scheduled animal encounters include bears, orangutan, reptiles and more. You can even handfeed a giraffe if you want to. Karibu Kitchen, our new restaurant, provides great food and a dining-room view of gibbon and lemur frolicking on nearby islands. And there's more! Our 3,000-square-foot meeting room is great for receptions, parties and other gatherings. Youngsters like our daycamps and especially enjoy ZOOSnooze, an overnight campout in the wild. Brighten your holiday season with a visit to our winter wonderland, "ZOO Lights," each evening at The ZOO from Thanksgiving through New Year's. Night or day, summer or winter, you will have a wild time and plenty of fun when you "Do The ZOO!" |
